Bronislav Bursík
Bronislav Bursík, a violinmaker from Brno, Czech Republic, was born on 10 October 1979. At the age of five he started to attend the violin classes in Brno. In that time he began to get to know the work with wood, got the first experience and knowledge of violinmaking in his father’s atelier. He finished his first Stradivari model instrument at the age of fifteen. Since then he has been making violins, violas and cellos of Stradivari and Guarneri model.
In the years 1994 – 1999 while working in his father’s workshop he attended the Moravian high school in Brno which he terminated by passing the school-leaving examination. He continued his studies by passing final exams at violinmaking training college in Luby by Cheb in 2000. He then developed his artistic skills during the internship at violinmakers Vladimír and Tomáš Pilař in Hradec Králové. He took up studies of Spanish language and literature at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in 2005 which he successfully finished in 2009 by obtaining the bachelor’s degree. He also passed one semester study stay at Universidad de Murcia, Spain during these studies.
He participated in the violinmaking competitions in Mittenwald, Germany (in 2005 – viola, in 2010 – violin), in Posen, Poland (2011), in Paris, France (2011) and in Cremona, Italy (2012). He passed the master violinmaking examination in Jan Baptista Špidlen's workshop in 2012 and thus became a member of the Czech circle of Masters Violinmakers.
